I was at a wild game dinner to speak and a young man whispered to me as if he didn’t want his dad to hear what he was saying, “My dad is here tonight. He’s not saved and I’m praying that he will respond to the Gospel.” My heart ached for the son and as I thought about him later that night in the quiet of my room I decided to write a song that others like him who are desperately hoping that an unsaved loved one would come to Christ could actually sing as a prayer.

For my father on earth, he’s lost in sin
